Starting a business is no picnic.
The most common dilemma of budding entrepreneurs is how to get sufficient funding to support their business ideas. That is why it’s good to know that there are a lot of companies and non-government organizations who are willing to lend financial aid to those who display promising future in their respective industries.
But in case you can’t find companies who can do this for you, here are some alternatives on how to raise money for your future business startup.
Get from your own savings.
Before engaging on a new endeavor like starting a business, the first thing to think about is your capital. Given that you have been working for some years now, it’s only natural that you already have an acceptable amount of savings in the bank or a number of investments.
Calculate the estimated amount you will need for the business. If the amount needed will not exceed more than 50% of your total savings, then you can lend a portion of your personal funds. If it exceeds the 50% cap you can still proceed in investing your money but would be best advised to find additional resources to tap into. But(!) if your savings fund is your only safety net, better not to risk it.
Apply for a business loan.
If you’re not too comfortable taking a portion of your savings fund, another possible source of your business capital is to apply for a business loan. The standing advantage is that you are borrowing the money and not tapping into your savings, thus your nest egg is not touched. The downside, however, is that the interest rates can be a real killer.
Find another source of income.
Compared to the first two, this strategy has no immediate effect. You have to allot a few months to accumulate the money you will need. The plus side, you don’t need to cut any of your existing funds or pay high interest rates from bank loans.
Sell some of your properties.
Putting your assets on sale will be handy if you need a huge sum of money. But if you just need a small amount of capital, managing a garage sale or auction event may be enough for now.
Scrimp on your other finances.
Saving a part of your monthly income may already be enough to support your new business. However, your spending habits may be the problem. To make things work for you, create a daily/ weekly/ monthly expense plan (whatever method that would be comfortable for you). Set the target amount you’re willing to allot for each segment: business capital, food, rent, bills, and recreation.
Borrow money from family and friends.
The idea may be a little uncomfortable for some, but if you need the money as soon as possible, asking your parents, your siblings, your relatives, or even friends may be your only way. Just make sure that you return the money on the date you have promised, to not spur any conflict or discomfort among you and the people you value.
Use your credit card.
This option is only practical for acquiring equipment and supplies for your business. Though it’s not a good source of actual cash, it can help delay some of your expenses.
Apply for home equity loan.
This is the boldest method you can make use since you’re using your house as the collateral. If your business is not able to reach its target ROI (Return of Investment), then there’s a huge chance of losing your house. But if things go as planned, then you will enjoy a successful business and maybe, a new home.
Whatever method you choose, be sure to check out both the pros and cons first. You will not be alone when trying to locate funding for your business as all entrepreneurs face is very same dilemma. Most, if not all, choose one of the above mentioned items to help fund their business initially. The best way to think about acquiring your initial allotment of capital to start a business is a look at it as an investment. An investment in yourself!

3 Home-Based Businesses You Could Start for Next to Nothing

I’m frequently asked for home-based business ideas and my advice is usually the same…
Find something you *like* to do and turn it into a home-based business!
It’s really that simple. 
That being said…
Of all the home-based businesses you could possibly start, a home-based “service” business is one of the easiest to start as it doesn’t require a “product” and, depending on the service offered, usually requires very little, if anything, in the way of initial startup costs.
A home-based service business is simply one that provides a needed (the key word here is *needed*) service to individuals, families, small businesses, and/or large companies. Home-based service businesses run the gamut from mowing neighbors’ lawns to managing business accounts for large companies.
Besides requiring little, if anything, in the way of initial startup costs, because you’re already paying rent or a mortgage, utilities, maintenance, etc., and, at least initially, you’d be your sole “employee”, the overhead (in my opinion one of the biggest killers of businesses there is) of a home-based service business, by its very nature, is nil or darn close to it, thus enabling it to be profitable from day one.
And…
With the Internet as your potential customer base…
For at least some home-based service businesses anyway…
The world can be your “playground”!
To get your thinking started in the right direction, here are just three of the many home-based service businesses you could start for next to nothing:
Home-Based Service Business #1 – Virtual assisting.
Virtual assisting has become very popular over the last ten years or so. With little more than a computer, fax machine, telephone, and an Internet connection, which odds are you already have, you could perform various administrative and/or technical tasks for individuals, families, small businesses, and/or large companies.
The list of potential services you could offer as a virtual assistant is limited only by your skills and imagination.
Home-Based Service Business #2 – Transcription.
Transcription can be a highly profitable home-based business venture. As it’s far easier, less time consuming, and more accurate to record an interview, meeting, or seminar, offices and businesspeople are continually in need of someone to transcribe their audio or video files.
As a home-based, self-employed transcriptionist, your “job” would be to turn those audio or video files into a document.
Home-Based Service Business #3 – Ghostwriting.
Ghostwriting is simply writing articles, books, brochures, ebooks, reports, and more for individuals and/or businesses.
Using your writing talent, you could make a lot of money creating written works (printed and/or electronic) for others who need them, but don’t have the inclination, talent, and/or time to write them themselves.
If you’ve been looking for a home-based business you could start for little or nothing in the way of upfront costs and if you have a skill or talent that can meet a need, then a home-based service business may be just the ticket to freedom you’ve been looking for.

I remember my own start: I wondered how much time and money it would require before the first sales will come in and is it possible for me to learn to market online? Then I told to myself: think simply. Follow those who have already done that and copy their actions. Wow!
So I started to dig the information from a big amount of sources, which affiliate programs have been marketed for years with good results and who are the masters of this business? I got a list of several programs for my home based business opportunity. The next step was to visit their home pages and to compare each offer to my wish list and made a short list of three affiliate programs.
As a third step I visited each of them and went through a lot of material from banners to training lessons, from free ebooks to member forums, from online help to doorway pages etc. A long list. But the final decision I made majorily by my feelings, because the differences were minimal.
As you see, I concentrated to pick the affiliate program, which the most respected gurus were marketing, because I thought simply. I did not know this business, so who is the best here and what homebased business opportunity does he market?This choice was totally based on the information from all over the internet. Then I decided to follow the selected program guidance. The key question was to collect information about the most successful home based business opportunities so long that I made it 100 % sure that the selected program is the best one. After that it is totally up to me!
It was amazing to recoqnize how to start home business can be free. However I bought a domain name and hosting services for my own customized website and joined two paid affiliate programs to be able to earn more right in the beginning.
Afterwards I can see that there were two important things in this process: an encouraging training lesson and a special starters ebook. Just two things, but how important they were. I cannot describe it, they were like parents for a small child, for my own home based business opportunity.I also saw how important was to reach the right feeling of the program: I just had to like it, before anything big could happen!
Now it is easy to tell you about all the nice things I got for free: the starters internet income course by email, enthusiastic training pages, starters ebook, and the forum, where my fellows can solve all my problems almost in real time. Almost!
I also understood that going to school is the start. By school I mean the training lesson, which was devided into one day short courses and the copystyle it was written was extremely encouraging and a street mans language, no difficult marketing jargon!
I got so excited, that I tried to run some promotions before I even knew how should I do that. Luckily I had the discipline to come back to the cickle of studying. Actually those 30 day lessons went through quickly, and I started the first promotions of my home based business opportunity. Finally! Earning while learning!
Why I underline the meaning of the training lesson is, that afterwards, when you run several promotions, you can always go back to the training lesson and check, how was it!

I think I just got tired of making money for other people, when I knew good and well that, no one will take better care of me than myself, right! Then I took all of the information I could possibly absorb, and put it into steps and goals to achieve. My first goal was to not work for any company or organization. It was to work for myself, and the ones I cared about. My next goal was to try these strategies for myself and purchase a home for little or no money down. I did it in under a month and turned around and sold the property for a 12,000.00 profit.
The point I want to bring across is that no matter what business you want to do, you just have to go out and do it. “Screw it and do it”, is the attitude you have to have, if you want to be in any business.
